Harrell’s LLC: A 5-Year Case Study in Corporate Headshot Consistency

Harrell's Corporate Headshots on-site mobile studio set up for 3 years of headshots with a composite background.

Corporate consistency is the hardest thing for national brands to maintain. When your team meets in Orlando one year, West Palm Beach the next, and Scottsdale, Arizona the year after that, you need a photographer who understands your brand inside and out.

This is a challenge I solve regularly as a Tampa headshot photographer serving national clients. My relationship with Harrell’s LLC started with headshots, but it evolved into a nationwide partnership.

TL;DR: I have partnered with Harrell’s LLC for five years. From capturing 147 headshots in two days in Florida (using high-end composites) to flying out to Scottsdale, AZ to document their National Sales Meeting, this case study explains why long-term partnership beats hiring a random local photographer every year. The 5-Year Relationship

Most corporate photography gigs are “one and done.” A company hires a local shooter, gets the files, and moves on.

My relationship with Harrell’s LLC is different. We have worked together for five years running. I have photographed their National Sales Meeting during the holiday season in:

  • Palm Harbor, FL
  • Orlando, FL
  • West Palm Beach, FL
  • Scottsdale, AZ (They flew me out!)

Why do they keep bringing a Tampa-based photographer to Arizona? Because I know their people, I know their brand standards, and I know how to execute without needing their HR director to hold my hand.

The Headshot Booth: 147 People in 2 Days

Our busiest years were in Florida, where the primary goal was updating the entire company directory. In 2019, we captured 147 employees over two days. In 2023, we did it again with 125 employees.

This is where my Corporate Headshot Booth workflow shines.

The “Zero Downtime” System

Harrell’s invests heavily in their training sessions. They could not afford to have 20 sales reps standing in a hallway waiting for photos. I deployed a tethered mobile studio that allowed me to:

  1. Photograph a subject in under 3 minutes.
  2. Review the image instantly on an iPad to ensure they liked it.
  3. Rename the file on-site (e.g., John_Smith.jpg) so the marketing team didn’t have to sort through generic file numbers later.

The Composite Advantage: Custom Backgrounds at Scale

Harrell’s didn’t want a generic gray background. They wanted a fresh, vibrant look that matched their “Green Industry” identity. However, bringing a green backdrop on-site can look cheap and result in color casts on the skin.

The Solution: Composite Photography.

I photographed every team member on a clean neutral gray background to ensure perfect skin tones. Then, in post-production, I manually extracted each person and placed them onto the custom green branded background.

Whether it was 2019 or 2023, male or female, the look had to be identical.

2023 Sales Rep (Male): Notice the clean extraction around the spiky hair texture. No “green spill” or jagged edges.

2019 Marketing (Hannah): Even 4 years prior, the lighting style and background blur match perfectly.

Why this matters for your brand:

  • Consistency Over Time: As you can see above, an employee photographed in 2023 fits seamlessly next to one photographed in 2019.
  • Flexibility: If Harrell’s rebrands next year, we can swap the background for the entire company without reshooting a single person.
  • Quality: By shooting on gray and compositing later, we keep the skin tones natural and the background vibrant.

From Tampa to Scottsdale: Traveling for the Event

This year, the National Sales Meeting moved to Scottsdale, Arizona.

Harrell’s could have hired a local Arizona photographer to cover the event. It would have been cheaper on paper. But they chose to fly me out.

Why?
Because after years of trusting me with their employees’ headshots, I am no longer just a vendor—I am a partner. They knew I understood the culture and the key players. They trusted me to document their awards gala and keynote sessions with the same professionalism I brought to the headshot booth.

Client Feedback

Here is what Hannah (pictured above on the right) had to say about our multi-year partnership:

“We’ve used James for the past several years to take updated professional headshots of our sales and corporate employees. He is quick, professional and always a joy to work with. Highly recommend using him for all your headshot needs!”
